About

Twin Lakes Action Group (TLAG) is a grassroots, IRC §501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2015 in Boulder, Colorado.  Our mission is to preserve the rural residential look and feel of our neighborhoods and the surrounding areas.

We came together to prevent the loss of 20 acres of undeveloped land at 6600 and 6655 Twin Lakes Road, located in Gunbarrel.  If this land is annexed into the City of Boulder and the zoning changed to “mixed density residential”, up to 360 units could be developed on these 20 acres – similar to the recent development behind King Soopers in Gunbarrel.

This land shares borders with Boulder County Open Space (specifically Twin Lakes Open Space) and is currently used by the community as open space.  This land:

  • Serves as a wildlife corridor and foraging grounds for a wide variety of wildlife, including: great-horned owls, hawks, great blue herons, eagles, foxes, and coyotes.
  • Is classified by the USDA/NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation
    Services) as Prime Farmland and Farmland of Statewide Importance
    • 6600 Twin Lakes Road is classified as 92% Prime Farmland and 8% Farmland of Statewide Importance
    • 6655 Twin Lakes Road is classified as 62% Prime Farmland and 38% Farmland of Statewide Importance
  • Provides:
    • Wetlands
    • Social trails for Gunbarrel
    • A community open space area for Gunbarrel residents
    • Neighborhood buffers
    • Scenic vistas
